CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Police in Cheektowaga responded to a stabbing in an apartment complex Tuesday, afternoon around 3 p.m. and found the victim with a life threatening injury.

A witness reported that the victim, 18-year-old David Pagan, had gone to see the suspect at an apartment in the Linda Lane complex.

During the course of an argument, the suspect pointed a knife at Pagan, threatened him, and then stabbed Pagan in the chest. Pagan was able to walk to his own apartment a few buildings away before calling police. He was taken to ECMC where he is reported to be in critical condition.

The suspect fled the area on foot. Police searched the area, and through their investigation, were able to locate and place the suspect under arrest without incident. Officers found the suspect walking on a street a few miles from the scene of the crime.

Brandon Murray, 18, of Surfside Parkway in Cheektowaga was placed under arrest, and charged with Attempted Murder 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree.

He was arraigned in front of Judge Kolbert and will be held without bail at the Erie County Holding Center until his Felony hearing on March 16th at 8:30 AM.

Detectives are continuing their investigation into a motive.
