BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) - Buffalo Police are investigating the discovery of a body inside a burned-out car near East Delavan Avenue in the city early Wednesday.

Buffalo firefighters were initially called to the 100 block of Roma Avenue at approximately 1:45am for a report of a car fire.

As rescuers put out the flames they discovered the body of a male victim inside of the vehicle.

One resident says she woke up to the sounds of blaring sirens, and watched crews put out the flames which had engulfed a red Ford Taurus. "I'm really hurting for this family. I feel for this family and I also know how they feel, to have lost a loved one and know they're never coming home again," said Ivory Flemming who lives on Roma Ave.

Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives were summoned to the scene shortly after. Detectives spent the overnight hours and early morning hours at the scene.

Buffalo Police spokesman Mike DeGeorge told News 4's Jericka Duncan that it's too early to tell what happened. Detectives are still awaiting autopsy results to determine a cause of death.

At this time, police have not released the victim's name.
