Buffalo crime stats go online

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Police Department is making it easy for Buffalo residents to find out about crime in their neighborhood.

The city has hired CrimeReports.com, a firm that posts daily crime data on its web site

Homicides, rapes, assaults, burglaries, robberies and vehicle thefts will be mapped and available at the click of a mouse.

The popularity of the program is growing rapidly. Last year 137 localities were participating in CrimeReports.com. This month the tally is 460.
