Person of interest Riccadro McCray came to Channel 4, Darnell Jackson brought him to Senior Correspondent Rich Newberg.

He voluntarily surrendered to Buffalo Police. There was no major violence or any major incident, he calmly went into custody.

"It was developed in the very recent past that Riccardo McCray was a key person in our investigation into the events of the City Grill shootings that left eight people being shot, four fatally, " said Buffalo Chief of Detectives Dennis Richards.

"Our homicide guys worked tirelessly on this investigation ever since the early-morning hours of last Saturday. We've worked with every local, state and federal agency in trying to develop information. There were all types of information and his possible where abouts, as you can imagine. The media was looking for us to come up with a name earlier but as you can well imagine we cannot conduct investigations in a fish bowl and we had to get our ducks in a row before we could identify him as a very key person in this investigation," said Richards.

Newberg sat across from him and talked with him to some length at News 4 studios, but News 4 is told not to use his picture. Viewers are going to ask why they cannot see the person of interest's picture.

"It's very critical in the execution of this case, if the picture is in any way published in the media, in the printed press or the TV press, that members of the public may say that they recognize that person and that actually taints the identification because we are basically pointing a finger saying 'this is the individual.' So that is for further court proceedings, as you well know there was well over 100 people at the scene of the crime and there is 150 that may have seen this person of interest shooting a gun and that's what we're still investigating. We're still looking for witnesses to come forward and perhaps with information that this person of interest is in our care and custody right now that people will come forward," Richards said.

McCray came to News 4 with Darnell Jackson and Bishop Perry Davis and they wanted him to have a lawyer present, but he was taken immediately into custody.

What about his rights?

Richards said, "His attorney will represent him and if he so chooses to allow him to be questioned, so that remains to be seen. They've been taken to police headquarters. the attorney did show up here and advised to go to police headquarters and if he chooses to allow his client to talk to us, that's his right and his privilege."

"The investigation went on over this past week around the clock, literally. We have been able to have some witnesses come forward, enough that led us to this individual being named as someone who was there at the scene and as the information developed along, that he was the prime person of interest in this shooting," said Richards.
