BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A former Buffalo police officer has pleaded guilty to attempted grand larceny for failing to pay New York State $13,000 in sales tax collected by a used car lot he owned.
Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita III says 47-year-old Johnnie Fritz Jr. of Lockport also admitted he failed to keep required tax records. He pleaded guilty in Buffalo City Court Friday.
Fritz has resigned from the police department and could get up to a year in prison when he's sentenced in June.
Prosecutors say Fritz failed to pay sales tax and keep bills of sale over the past five years as sole owner of Ultra Car Sales.
