LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - A former lawyer who was disbarred from practicing law in 2005 has been arraigned on charges he continued to maintain a law office, providing legal services and receiving fees.
The Erie County District Attorney's office has charged former attorney and former Erie County legislator David Dale, 49, of Lancaster with first degree scheme to defraud, fourth degree grand larceny, third degree grand larceny, petit larceny, and six counts of practice of law by an attorney who has been disbarred. Prosecutors allege Dale not only continued to practice law, but on several occasion stole money from people by pretending he was still allowed to provide them with legal services.
If convicted, Dale faces a maximum sentence of 11 years behind bars.
