BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - They call it a plea for peace. A call being made in the wake of some violent incidents based on bias against gays.

The event "United We Stand in Buffalo" was held at Asbury Hall at Babeville on Delaware Avenue. Organizers called for improved safety for people of all backgrounds. The father of Lindsay Harmon spoke publicly for the first time since she was stabbed outside Roxy's on New Year's Day.

"Be a part of their life before it's too late for you and the other person. Everyone regardless of their way of life, should be respected and allowed to lead their life without being taunted, and demeaned for being who they are," said Harmon.

Donations were collected for a reward fund for current and future investigations.
