SHERMAN, N.Y. (WIVB) - A southern tier man is facing charges after allegedly crashing his vehicle into a ditch, and then leaving the scene.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says 41-year-old Michael Gibbons lost control of his vehicle while on Route 430, around 1:50 a.m. Friday. Police say Gibbons’ vehicle struck a sign post and went nose first into a ditch, causing damage to the vehicle.
Both Gibbons and his passenger allegedly fled the scene and were located later, at Gibbons’ residence.
Police say both Gibbons and his passenger were injured in the accident.
Gibbons is charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, speed not reasonable and prudent, unsafe passing, drove to left of markings on a curve and drove across hazardous markings.
