LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - A 27-year-old man is dead after Lancaster Police say they were forced to use a stun gun on him Tuesday morning during a violent disturbance.

Relatives tell News 4 27-year-old Nicholas Koscielniak was at his uncle's house early Tuesday morning when he got into some kind of altercation with his uncle's roommate, and Koscielniak's uncle called police. Lancaster Police say they responded to the disturbance at a home where they encountered Koscielniak, whom they describe as 6'4" and 275 pounds. Police say Koscielniak was out of control and assaulting another adult male occupant and they were eventually forced to use a stun gun on Koscielniak, but say it did not control his violence. Police say Koscielniak still fought with them as they physically restrained him to be taken by ambulance to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Police say after being placed on a gurney, Koscielniak became unresponsive. He was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:52 a.m. Koscielniak is survived by his fiancée and his 2-year-old son.

Police say officers injured in the altercation did not require hospitalization. The matter remains under investigation.
