AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - A North Tonawanda man will spend a dozen years in prison for a horrifying attack on a baby girl.
Twenty-year-old Jeffrey Hernandez will now spend the next 12 years behind bars for slashing the throat of his former girlfriends six-month-old baby, who will now have a permanent scar on her neck.
Hernandez and his former girlfriend, who was also in court Thursday, got into a verbal altercation in June at their apartment that escalated.
He was eventually tasered by a a police officer just moments after cutting the baby throat. Even though he had a translator present, he did not make a statement.
His former girlfriend says, it's hard to believe she once thought of him as a boyfriend, now all she sees is a monster.
While the sentencing was being handed down Hernandez's former girlfriend had to be escorted from the court room for yelling an obscenity towards Hernandez.
