Man arrested in alleged sex crimes

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (RELEASE) - A Cheektowaga man has been arrested for allegedly forcing sexual encounters on juvenile males. Detectives received an initial report of the male forcibly touching a juvenile male, and opened an investigation.

Their efforts uncovered more victims and a years-long pattern of sexual abuse. Detectives Michael Hockwater, Terrence Griffin, and Joseph Bauman collaborated on the case and were able to locate and interview additional males who had, in the past, been subject to sexual advances and forced sexual encounters from the suspect.

After concluding their investigation the Detectives interviewed the suspect, who admitted to all the allegations and was subsequently taken into custody.

The male arrested is Dennis Doherty, 70, of Edgebrook Estates.

He was charged with Forcible Touching, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Criminal Sexual Act 2nd degree, one count of Criminal Sexual Act 1st degree, and one count of Predatory Sexual Assault on a Child, which is a Class A felony.
