Meth lab bust in Genesee County

ALABAMA, N.Y. (WIVB) - The discovery and dismantling of a methamphetamine lab in Genesee County and an arrest of the person involved has been announced by The Genesee County Sheriff's Office, the Genesee County Local Law Enforcement Drug Task and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, Buffalo office.

A federal search warrant was executed Thursday morning, on Lewiston Road in the Town of Alabama. Members of the DEA Clan Lab entry team discovered a small clan lab, capable of producing methamphetamine, inside the residence.

Two individuals were in the residence at the time. The 17-year-old son of the owner and 20-year-old Dustin Benham of Darien, NY were secured and interviewed by agents.

Benham will be charged by federal agents with Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine.

A federal arrest warrant for Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine was issued for the resident Kenneth Mosholder, 44, who was taken into custody on Jackson Street, in Batavia. Other charges may be pending and other individuals may be charged.

Due to chemicals being at the location, which are volatile , toxic and flammable, DEA chemists were on location, along with members from the Genesee County Haz Mat team, Genesee Count Emergency Management, Mercy EMS and the Alabama Fire Department. A clean-up company was also present to clean up any contaminants.
