LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - His driver's license was revoked after previous DWI convictions. Police say Joseph Simme was drunk again when he made a beer run on a lawn tractor. Now, it was time to face a judge.
Joseph Simme is accused of being drunk while driving a lawn mower recently in the town of Lancaster. Here's what he had to say after facing a judge.
News 4 said, "You were on a lawnmower and allegedly you were intoxicated."
Joseph Simme responded, "I don't have any comments at this time."
Nothing to say, but police tell News 4 the Lancaster man had plenty to drink. They say he blew a .14, nearly twice the legal limit, when he was stopped in late March on Sheldon Avenue in the town. Witnesses say the 47-year-old was nearly killed by vehicles as he tried to get to a convenience store apparently to buy more alcohol.

John Sergi said, "You'd have to be drunk to try to get across Walden on a lawnmower. It doesn't surprise me. We have several unique individuals in this neighborhood."
Before he left court, News 4 asked him the question many people want the answer to.
News 4 asked, "Did you have a few beers before getting on the lawnmower?"
But Simme only replied, "I have no comments at this time."
Simme walked out of town of Lancaster court Tuesday night and took his bike with him. His license to drive has been revoked because of two previous DWI convictions. He's due back in court on April 27th. The judge told him to show up with an attorney.
