CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Employees of the Walmart on Transit Road in Clarence got suspicious when a Buffalo couple, identified as 52-year-old Ronald Evans and 39-year-old Tashine Knightner, passed hundreds of dollars in fresh $20 bills to buy office equipment.

A close examination indicated the currency might be bogus so the Secret Service was called in to investigate.

Special Agent in Charge of Buffalo's Secret Service office, Tracy Gast said that there are many security features of US currency which help protect consumers and businesses from getting ripped off.

Walmart workers didn't have to use a counterfeit pen, and after the investigation Evans and Knightner were arrested at their home on Dorris Avenue.

This is the second counterfeiting operation taken down by authorities in less than a week. Police and federal agents arrested a Town of Evans man last Thursday and charged him with passing bogus bills.
