BROCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Monroe County College Community was shaken up Friday afternoon after a double shooting that wounded two people, including a sheriff's deputy.
The suspected gunman has been taken into custody.
This all happened at about 1:30 in Brockport, on a road that borders SUNY Brockport.
Police say it began as a domestic situation.
The suspect fired several random shots from a second floor window of his home.
One of them hit a neighbor and the other hit a deputy.
Their injuries were not life threatening.
The gunman surrendered to police about an hour later.
Monroe County Sheriff, Patrick O'Flynn said, "The neighbors in the surrounding area were contacted by hyper reach through the 911 center and told to stay inside their houses and one of our negotiators was able to make contact with the individual and negotiated a peaceful surrender."
SUNY Brockport was also put into lock down until the suspect surrendered.
