BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo Police were on the scene of a fatal shooting Wednesday night on Virginia Street near Trenton.
Police say the incident happened just after 8 p.m. Police say a woman, believed to be in her 20's, was pronounced dead at the scene after she was apparently shot by her boyfriend. Family members held each other in the street, weeping over their loss.
Buffalo Police chief of detectives Dennis Richards tells News 4 the victim was found on the sidewalk, and immediately identified the woman's boyfriend as a person of interest. Police say they quickly picked him up and took him in for questioning. Richards says though police are still investigating, it appears the couple, who did not live together, got into an argument just before the shooting.
Police have not released the name of the victim or the person in custody.
