Amherst PD hunt vacuum cleaner thief

AMHERST, NY (WIVB) - The hunt is on for a man who allegedly stole several Dyson vacuum cleaners from a Sheridan Drive store in Amherst.

Police say the suspect got away with more than $1,700 worth of merchandise by pushing a cart of merchandise out of the store without paying.

The suspect was captured on security footage on 1/6/2013 around midnight. He is described as a white male in his mid 40s, possibly 5’10” tall.  He was wearing eyeglasses, blue jeans and black leather coat.

Police say the suspect drove away in a four-door vehicle, possibly an older model Chevy Malibu with the newer style yellow and blue NYS license plates.
