BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - An argument between two people outside the Rath Building in downtown Buffalo ended with both being arrested on weapon possession charges.
The Erie County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called outside the building to where a man and woman were fighting inside a car at West Eagle and Pearl Streets. Deputies learned the driver, 29-year-old Darius Penn of Buffalo, had a suspended driver's license and his passenger, 28-year-old Tocarra Steward of Buffalo, had no license at all.
The vehicle was towed and during an inventory of its contents, officers discovered a loaded handgun in the center console. Neither driver or passenger took ownership of the weapon, so deputies charged both Penn and Steward with second degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Penn is also facing vehicle and traffic charges, including third degree aggravated unlicensed operation.
Both were taken to the Erie County Holding Center and held pending arraignment.
