NIAGARA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Town of Niagara Police have caught up to the man they say viciously assaulted a boxer with a golf club.

Nick Casal was scheduled for a bout at the Seneca Niagara Casino. Instead, he's now recovering from head wounds he received when his father says the ex-boyfriend of Casal's girlfriend violently assaulted Casal with a golf club.

The casino was forced to cancel the matchup.

On Friday, police announced they arrested Michael Vicki, 30, of the Town of Niagara and charged him with one count of first degree assault. Vicki was remanded to the Niagara County Jail without bail.
