BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Police say on Massachusetts Avenue in Buffalo, a man nearly had his arm cut off by an assailant wielding a machete.
It happened around 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Massachusetts and Plymouth Avenues. Police say 22-year-old Mark Hawkins was attacked outside his home by a group of people, and that the suspects attacked him with a machete. Despite a large laceration to the man's left arm, just below the shoulder, and a large amount of blood on the street, the victim was taken to ECMC where he was treated and released.
This bizarre attacks comes just one day after a burglar used a sword to rob a gas station at Hertel and Colvin in Buffalo, injuring a bystander who tried to stop the suspect in the parking lot.
Police ask anyone who has information on the assault to call the confidential tipline at 847-2255.
