GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) - Erie County Sheriff's deputies say an assault suspect injured himself while trying to escape custody over the weekend.
Authorities say 20-year-old Sean Riordon jumped over a railing on the second to the first floor of the Grand Island Court building. He hit his head and Mercy Flight took him to ECMC. He is listed in stable condition.
Deputies administered first aid on the scene until paramedics responded. The sheriff's office says this may have been a suicide attempt.
Riordon was charged earlier with assault, menacing and weapon possession after a dispute with his roommate.
