AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - A man convicted on December 18th of two counts of Robbery, Grand Larceny, and Reckless Driving was sentenced to 15 years in prison Friday morning.
On December 16, 2011, 48-year-old Mark Daniels walked into the Evans National Bank in Amherst and stole about $4,340 from a teller drawer. The stacks of money he stole contained a GPS tracking device allowing police to track him shortly after he fled the scene in a rental car.
Daniels nearly ran over one of the officers trying to apprehend him, and started a seven-mile high speed chase. The chase went through Amherst and the east side of Buffalo and ended when the robber entered a busy intersection causing him to collide with two vehicles.
The drivers of both vehicles suffered multiple injuries.
