BROCKPORT, N.Y. (AP) - The boyfriend of a New York college freshman beaten to death in her dorm room has been indicted by a grand jury.
Monroe County district attorney's office spokesman David Marion says a grand jury voted on the indictment Wednesday. He says he can't discuss its contents because it hasn't been filed in court.
New Hartford resident Clayton Whittemore pleaded not guilty earlier to murder. He's accused of killing 18-year-old Alexandra Kogut. He's been in custody since shortly after Kogut's body was found Saturday at the State University of New York College at Brockport.

The 21-year-old Utica College student is scheduled to appear Thursday in Sweden Town Court as Kogut's family and friends gather for her funeral 150 miles away in New Hartford.
Kogut's family says it's "grateful" for the community support it has received.
