GREECE, N.Y. (WIVB) - The anti-bullying crusade has a new face, 68-year-old bus monitor Karen Klein. A viral video, showing Klein being verbally brutalized by a group of Rochester-area middle-schoolers, is spreading around the world. It's also spurring death threats for the boys involved.

Because of the death threats, police in Greece, New York have stepped up patrols near the homes of the four boys who tormented and threatened their bus monitor, Karen Klein.

She says the boys don't need reprimanded in the courts, because they've gone through enough dealing with the public outrage.

Police Captain Steve Chatterton said, “I’ve gotten e-mails from the UK from all over the United States saying prosecute them, prosecute them.”

For now, Greece Police are leaving the task of disciplining four seventh graders to the school district and their parents. Police, town and school officials spoke to reporters Thursday, expressing their outrage over the situation.

Police say they're not filing charges because school bus aide Karen Klein says they've been through enough since this video went viral.

Bullies Bus Aide Karen Klein said, “I mean, they're threatening these families, and I don't like that.”

Police described the threats to be the same as bullying.

Chatterton said, “We have a cell phone of one of the boys and he had over 1,000 missed calls and 1,000 text messages threatening him.”

Even though the public has been begging Chatterton to charge the boys, he says he has to follow the law, that it can't be tailored in this case, just because so many people are outraged.
