NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Wednesday afternoon, the man charged in a brutal North Tonawanda murder is due in court.
Brian Lowry was arrested Saturday for the murder of his girlfriend Heather Rylowicz . Wednesday, he goes to court facing second-degree murder charges. The murder has North Tonawanda neighbors in disbelief.
Nieghbor Dennis Wozniak said, “Neighborhood is shocked, I mean, just nobody could believe something like that could happen around here. I mean it's a quiet neighborhood where everybody seems to get along with one another.”
The body of Heather Rylowicz was found in her Lincoln Avenue apartment in North Tonawanda last week, and police immediately began searching for her boyfriend , 32-year-old Brian Lowry, who moved in with her a few months ago.
News 4 has learned more about the criminal past of Lowry. According to AnnArbor.com, Lowry pleaded no contest in 1997 to having sex with a girl under the age of 13. He later served three months in jail for never registering as a sex offender.
Brian Lowry is scheduled to appear in North Tonawanda Court at 2 p.m. Wednesday, to face second-degree murder charges.
