BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo Police have had a busy weekend so far, investigating a homicide and several other crimes. Police were called to four shootings in less than 24 hours, all on Buffalo's east side, in the Bailey Avenue, East Delavan Avenue, Walden Avenue area.

The violence started around 8:30 p.m. Friday, when police say 22-year-old Michael D. Smith, of Buffalo, was driving near Lang Avenue and Hagen Street when he was struck by gunfire . Bleeding from a wound to his leg, the victim drove a couple of blocks away to Newburgh Street, before crashing. He later died at Erie County Medical Center.

In the same neighborhood as the homicide, on Roslyn Street, another man was shot during the overnight hours.

At about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to police, two men were struck in an apparent drive-by shooting , in the 2500 block of Bailey Avenue. Both were treated, and released from the hospital.

Then, at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, there were calls of about 15 shots fired near the corner of Walden Avenue and Keystone Street. It appears no one was actually shot, at that location.

Police say they are investigating to see if there are any connections between the shootings. If you have any information on any of these shootings, you're asked to call or send a text to the Buffalo Police tipline at 847-2255. All tips are kept confidential.
