CARROLL, N.Y. (WIVB) - An alleged drunk driver crashed his vehicle through a guardrail in the Town of Carroll early Saturday morning, and suffered minor injuries. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says 44-year-old William A. Swagler, of Erie, Pennsylvania, is facing a number of charges in the incident.
Authorities say Swagler’s vehicle was traveling southbound on Route 62 at a high rate of speed and did not slow down at the intersection with Ivory Road. Swagler went through the intersection and crashed through the guardrail.
Police say he had a visible laceration but refused medical treatment and transportation. He is charged with DWI, BAC .08 percent of greater, Speed not reasonable and prudent and Disobey stop sign.
