TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - In the City of Tonawanda, police are investigating a hit and run accident that left two pedestrians with injuries.
The two pedestrians, apparently teenagers, were walking along Niagara Street around 8:30 p.m. An eyewitness tells News 4 he saw the speeding, tan vehicle coming up Niagara Street and as the boy and girl were crossing the street in front of the police station, the driver, without slowing, hit both of them.
The witness says the boy was actually on the hood of the car as it sped off, and the driver began swerving to get the boy off the hood without ever braking. The witness then rushed to their aid.
A City of Tonawanda Fire Police Assistant Chief confirmed that two teenagers were struck and were taken to ECMC. Their conditions are not known, but the assistant chief said their injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
The assistant chief also told News 4 that the second scene up the road, which was originally believed to be a second pedestrian struck, was actually a passenger in the car who bailed out of the moving vehicle. The passenger was hurt and was also taken to ECMC, but there is no word on their condition.
Police say they found the car in Cheektowaga and have identified the driver. They are looking for 31-year old Leslie James Ralston, who's described as a white male, about 5'10" tall and 220 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. A picture is attached to this story. Anyone with information is asked to call City of Tonawanda Police at 692-2103.
