Carlos Cardenas is scheduled to go on trial on Wednesday, nearly 18 months since the body of his 15-year-old sister-in law, Katie Sanchez was found in a shallow grave in an apple orchard.
Cardenas, 22 is charged with strangling and raping the teenager. He lead police to her grave in a Ridgeway apple orchard.
Wednesday jury selection is slated to begin in an Orleans County Court, presided over by Judge James Punch.
The victim was a freshman at Albion High School. She disappeared Jan. 15, 2011, though her family didn’t report her missing until three days later.
