AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - Amherst Police say a man burglarized Shenanigan’s Bar and Grill early Tuesday morning, and then called a taxi to flee the area. The incident resulted in 53-year-old Ronald R. Birdsong, of Buffalo, facing felony and misdemeanor charges.
Police were called to the Niagara Falls Boulevard restaurant and bar around 6 a.m. Tuesday, to find an open front window, a damaged jukebox and an unspecified amount of cash.
While checking the area for a suspect, a Town of Tonawanda officer observed a taxi driving around the area of the burglary. Police say Birdsong was inside the cab, and had called it to flee the area. While being questioned, he allegedly gave police a fake name and provided inconsistent statements.
Birdsong is charged with felony third-degree burglary, felony third-degree criminal mischief, misdemeanor second-degree impersonation, misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor petit larceny.
