NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - Deputies arrested a man they say was selling bogus New Era caps out of the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls.
Weiliang Chen, 31, of White Plains, NY, who currently resides in Amherst, was arrested and charged Thursday with one count of second degree trademark counterfeiting. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office worked with Town of Niagara Police and uncovered over 200 counterfeit caps worth over $6,000.
New Era said they will prosecute this and all similar offenses. Authorities did not say where Chen was selling his fake wares.
After being arraigned, Chen was taken to the Niagara County Jail on $5,000 bail.
