GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) - Erie County Sheriff's Deputies have a Grand Island man in custody after they say he jumped out of a second story window Saturday night trying to escape them.
Deputies say they arrived at the East Park Road home of 30-year old Pascual Munoz-Ortiz' girlfriend around 9 p.m. after he failed to appear at a sentencing hearing for a previous conviction. They say he jumped out of the window and ran through the woods and yards trying to escape.
Authorities organized a search and say they found him shortly after hiding in a neighbor's shed. He was arrested and charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration, and was taken to the Erie County Holding Center to await the original sentencing as well as another warrant from Niagara County.
His girlfriend, 32-year old Christine Colucci, was also charged with obstruction for allegedly helping him after he fled.
