FRENCH CREEK, N.Y. (WIVB) - An accident occurred in the Town of French Creek Sunday morning after a Pennsylvania woman was driving while text messaging and while intoxicated.
Zoe Brooks, 20, reportedly drove off the road and down an embankment into a ditch around 1:15 a.m.
She was found to be intoxicated leading to her arrest for DWI.
Jesse Yates, 21, of Edinboro identified himself as Brook’s boyfriend to officers and said he arrived to the scene for assistance.
His vehicle was parked in the middle of the road where the accident happened. Apparently, a Peek'n' Peak security officer witnessed Yate’s drive to the scene of the accident.
Following an investigation, he was also arrested for DWI and taken into custody along with Brooks.
Brooks was charged with DWI, having a BAC of .08% or greater, move from lane unsafely, and using a handheld electronic device.
Yates was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, having a BAC of .18% or greater, and parking on the highway.
They were released and are due to appear in the Town of French Creek at a later date.
