BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Erie County Sheriff’s Office says two people were arrested for DWI over the weekend, bringing the total of DWI arrests in the county during 2013 to 67.
The first DWI arrest was Saturday on Southwestern Boulevard, after a deputy found an unconscious man behind the wheel of a vehicle. The sheriff’s office says Frank A. Thompson, of Brant, was evaluated by the Seneca Nation Volunteer Fire Department and was cleared. Authorities say Thompson was intoxicated and refused to provide a breath sample. The DMV was notified of his refusal, and his license will be revoked.
While deputies were patrolling Sunday in the Village of Akron, a woman’s vehicle was stopped after allegedly not stopping at a stop sign. Deputies say 37-year-old Rachel A. Miller, of Akron, was charged with DWI after failing several field sobriety tests. Her BAC was allegedly .16 percent, twice the legal limit.
