SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Deputies arrested an intoxicated man they say stole a van in Springville and took off.
Wednesday night, just before midnight, Erie County Sheriff's deputies were called to West Main Street when a person reported a neighbor's van had been stolen by a drunk man. While responding, deputies spotted the van and got the driver to stop. They then promptly placed 26-year-old Randall Runyan under arrest.
Runyan has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felony possession of stolen property, DWI and felony aggravated unlicensed operation. Deputies say Runyan's license was suspended for a prior alcohol-related arrest and he refused to take a breath test to determine his BAC.
Runyan was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment, and the van was returned to its owner.
