AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - An Erie County Sheriff's deputy has admitted driving drunk when he struck a motorcyclist stopped at a red light.
In August, 28-year-old Michael Haug was off-duty when he rear-ended 37-year-old Daniel Colosimo of Tonawanda, who was stopped on his motorcycle at a red light. Colosimo was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered serious traumatic brain injury.

Haug admitted in court on Monday he was driving drunk with a BAC of .25 percent, more than three times the legal limit. He pleaded guilty to first degree vehicular assault, which is a higher charge than his initial arrest for second degree vehicular assault.
When Haug is sentenced on January 30, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
