BRANT, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo man is facing animal cruelty charges after troopers responding to a domestic violence call found an injured dog in the man's trunk.
State Police and Brant Police were called to a home on Detroit Street in Brant on Monday for a domestic complaint. At the home, 53-year-old Halbert Brooks of Farnharm was arrested for second degree harassment, and a Buffalo man was also taken into custody.
Police say 21-year-old Tyrell Oden had an injured dog in his vehicle. He was charged with cruelty to animals and third degree aggravated unlicensed operator.
The Erie County SPCA was then called to the Detroit Street property, where agents and the Brant Dog Control Officer seized 10 unlicensed dogs of varying ages and conditions.
Police continue to investigate and say more charges are possible. Brooks posted bail and was released. Oden remains in jail at the Erie County Holding Center on $500 bail.
