BEMUS POINT, N.Y. (WIVB) - State Police stopped a driver for not wearing his seatbelt Monday, and the stop resulted in a weapons possession arrest.
Troopers say that while they were talking to the driver, 19-year-old Michael Babbage, of Bemus Point, they smelled marijuana from inside his vehicle. The trooper searched his vehicle and four a two-feet long billy club. Babbage was arrested for fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Police say the amount of marijuana found in the vehicle did not constitute a violation of the law.
