BENNINGTON, N.Y. (WIVB) - State Police stopped a driver for speeding and say they ended up arresting him for felony possession of marijuana.
On Saturday, troopers say they pulled over 35-year-old Martin Clough of Gasport for going 71 MPH in a 55 MPH zone on Route 77 in the Town of Bennington. Police detected a strong odor of marijuana and say Clough consented to a search of his vehicle.
Troopers say inside they found over one pound of marijuana and a pill believed to be suboxone. They arrested Clough and charged him with second degree criminal possession of marijuana, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and having a controlled substance that was not inside a legally prescribed container.
Clough was taken to the Wyoming County Jail on $10,000 bail.
