GOWANDA, N.Y. (AP) - State troopers say they're looking for a driver who fled the scene after a car crashed off a western New York road and hit a house.
Police say the car was speeding down Route 39 in the village of Gowanda around 1 a.m. Thursday when it left the road and hit the end part of a guide rail. Troopers say the car then hit three mailboxes, two large stones on a lawn and then a small tree.
The car hit another larger tree and flipped over, with the vehicle's rear bumper going through a window on a home.
Troopers say by the time fire and emergency crews arrived the scene, the driver had fled. A search turned up no sign of the person.
Police are continuing the investigation.
