SALAMANCA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Deputies say a man who drove his car into a ditch at 5:30 in the morning on Friday was drunk behind the wheel.
Donald Cotter, Jr. of Ellicottville was taken into custody on Bucktooth Run Road in Salamanca. Deputies say the 30-year-old was found passed out behind the wheel with his car in the ditch. According to authorities, Cotter failed field sobriety tests and an open alcoholic beverage was inside his car.
Cotter was arrested and charged with felony DWI, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, moving from lane unsafely, failure to maintain lane and having an open alcoholic beverage within a vehicle.
After being arraigned, Cotter was taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail on $2,500 bail.
