JAVA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Deputies say a drunk driver whose rear passenger door was open was easy to spot as he missed the turn into a driveway.
Last Friday, the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office was called to the Town of Java. Two Wyoming County probation officers had witnessed 38-year-old Scott Hogan driving erratically with a door open on his car, crossing the center line and into the opposite lane of traffic. Deputies say the two officers then watched as Hogan missed the turn into a driveway, nearly hit a tree, and got his vehicle stuck on the lawn.
Deputies responded and could smell alcohol coming from the car. Hogan was arrested for felony DWI with a .08 percent BAC or higher, felony aggravated DWI with a .18 percent BAC or higher, failure to keep right and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.
He was arraigned and taken to the Wyoming County Jail on $7,500 bail.
