TONAWANDA, NY (WIVB) - An elderly resident of a Tonawanda assisted living facility has died after allegedly being beaten by his roommate.
Salvatore Trusello, 86, who was formerly a baker from Niagara Falls, was attacked on November 26.
The victim’s roommate, Chester Rusek, 87, is accused of using a 2.5 lb. magnet to badly bruise Trusello. The incident occurred at the Kenwell De-Paul Sr. Living Community on Delaware Avenue.
Rusek has been charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death and whether or not Trusello’s death was directly connected to the beating.
New charges could be lodged against Rusek.
