BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - An 82-year-old man is Buffalo's latest victim of gunfire.

Ansumane Kanneh was struck by a stray bullet outside the Maryner Homes Complex on Maryland Street Saturday.

Tears poured down Mama Kanneh's face as she showed us pictures of her father.

Mama Kanneh said. "He didn't deserve it. Everybody dies but he didn't deserve the way he died."

Mama says her 82 year old father, Ansumane Kanneh was fixing his granddaughter's bicycle on Saturday around 5PM, when he was struck and killed by a stray bullet.

The innocent victim died right outside of his family's apartment complex on Buffalo's west side.

"For this to happen everybody was shocked because he minded his own businesses and he never asked anyone for anything," added Mama.

Mama said, "Almost all the kids over here called him grandpa because if you want a ride, he would give you a ride anywhere you needed to go."

This tragedy effected the entire community.

"When one thing happens the whole neighborhood is effected. You see the house everybody is in there," added Mama.

Even Mayor Byron Brown came to show his support.

"I wanted to come and comfort the family, speak to his widow and children," said Mayor Brown.

Mayor Brown added, "Anytime we lose a member of this community its a painful this for me as Mayor and its a painful thing for the entire community."

Mama says her family of five moved from Liberia to Buffalo in 2004.

This is understandably a difficult time for this West African family, but Mama says they know their loving father is in a better place.

"We did so much crying so all we have to do now is just leave it to God," added Mama.
