Gunman storms apartment, shoots woman

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A 48-year-old woman was shot in the back Halloween night in her upper apartment on Zenner Street in Buffalo.

Police were called to the home around 9 p.m. Thursday morning, she is in serious condition at ECMC.

News 4 spoke to two young men who identified themselves as the woman's sons. One said he did not believe it was a robbery, but a hit of some sort, though he has no idea why someone would target his mom.

Buffalo Police are looking for the armed gunman, who fled on foot. He was wearing dark clothing and a mask and may have been difficult to spot among costumed trick or treaters.

Reports indicate an armed robbery happened on North Fillmore Avenue, about a mile and a half away, a short time after the shooting. The robbery suspect had the same description as the shooting suspect, though it remains unclear if the two incidents are connected.
