ELLICOTT, N.Y. (WIVB) - Five teens from PA were arrested over the weekend when State Police stopped on Route 60 in Ellicott to assist them after their vehicle broke down.
Troopers say they determined the driver, 19-year-old Derek Gifford of Titusville, was intoxicated when he failed field sobriety tests. The other occupants of the vehicle, Francis Suppa, Tylor Keyes, Skylar Wolfe, and Zachary Johnson, were all taken into custody for underage possession of alcohol.
Authorities say the teens had multiple cases of beer inside the vehicle. Gifford was taken to the police barracks, where his BAC was tested and found to be .09 percent. He was processed and released to appear in court at a later date.
The other four teens were given appearance tickets and released to a sober individual.
