ATTICA, N.Y. (AP) - A 69-year-old woman has been indicted after authorities say she tried to smuggle cocaine and marijuana to her grandson while he was an inmate at a western New York prison.
Wyoming County prosecutors tell the Daily News of Batavia that Elsie Biaselli of Albion was indicted in late October on charges including conspiracy and promoting dangerous prison contraband. Her grandson, 28-year-old Joshua Biaselli, was indicted on the same charges.
Both have pleaded not guilty.
Authorities say the grandmother was caught twice earlier this year trying to smuggle drugs to her grandson while he was an inmate at Attica state prison. He has since been transferred to a prison in northern New York.
Joshua Biaselli spent two weeks on the loose in 2009 after escaping police custody following an arrest.
