BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Buffalo Bills home opener resulted in several arrests in western New York. State Police say they conducted a DWI saturation patrol Sunday. Troopers issued 50 tickets, including six DWI arrests, one drug arrest, 17 speeding tickets and 33 other vehicle and traffic law violations.
Troopers say 44-year-old Kelly L. Heberlein, of Darien Center, nearly struck a police car on the shoulder of Transit Road. Police say a breath test revealed she was intoxicated, with an alleged .12 percent blood alcohol content. She will appear in Town of Elma Court at a later date.
A Depew man was also stopped and charged on Transit Road. State Police say 56-year-old Bradley Poss was stopped for passing a red light, and it was found that he had a suspended registration for parking tickets. After an investigation, Poss was arrested for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and public health law offense, for having a controlled substance out of its original container. He will answer charges in the Village of Depew Court at a later date.
Police say 26-year-old Lisa Ziems, of Cheektowaga, was in a minor property damage accident on Southwestern Boulevard in Orchard Park. Police say she was intoxicated and refused to submit a breath sample. She will appear in Orchard Park Court at a later date, and at a DMV Hearing because she refused to submit a breath sample.
A Massachusetts man is facing charges after being stopped in West Seneca for texting on his cell phone while driving and not wearing his seat belt. Police say a breath test revealed an alleged .09 percent blood alcohol content. He is expected to appear in Town of West Seneca Court at a later date.
An Orchard Park man was stopped near Michael and Angle Roads for not wearing his seat belt. Police say 36-year-old Arthur Cross was found to be intoxicated and a breath test revealed an alleged .14 percent blood alcohol content. He was charged with felony DWI because of a previous DWI conviction.
State Police say 22-year-old Tyler Scott, of Jamestown, was stopped for a traffic infraction on I-90. Police say he was found to be intoxicated and was processed at State Police Buffalo, where a breath test resulted in a BAC of .10 percent. He will appear in Town of West Seneca Court.
According to State Police, 22-year-old Laura Inzana was stopped for a traffic infraction in Pembroke and was found to be intoxicated. She refused to provide a breath sample and was charged with resisting arrest. She was committed to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $1,000. She will return to the Town of Pembroke Court at a later date to answer the charges. She will also have to appear at a NYS Department of Motor Vehicles Hearing because she refused to provide a breath sample.
