ATTICA, N.Y. (WIVB) - An inmate at the Attica Correctional Facility is facing contraband charges after guards allegedly found he had an edged metal weapon hidden on him.
James Nelson was doing time at the maximum security prison for first degree assault, second degree assault, third degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first degree promoting prison contraband out of Albany County, NY. Authorities say the 31-year-old was found to be in possession of a weapon last July while housed in Attica.
Since then, Nelson has been moved to Upstate Correctional. But he has now been charged with first degree promoting prison contraband and third degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies.
