JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) - Jamestown Police are asking for the public's help in finding the bank robber who hit the First Niagara Bank on Spring Street Monday afternoon.
Authorities say the man handed the teller a note demanding cash shortly after noon. After receiving an undisclosed amount, the suspect fled on foot.
He is described as white, around 5'10" and 160 pounds. He has light brown hair with a reddish-blonde goatee. He was wearing wire rim glasses, a black leather coat, black pants, a green button-up shirt, and a black Pittsburgh Pirates hate with a black "P" on the front.
The suspect from the surveillance photos shows a similar appearance to that of the man suspected for several bank robberies throughout the state, including one a short time later in Falconer.
An investigation is underway with the FBI and other police agencies who are working to see if this robbery, is connected to the rather similar NYS bank robberies.
Anyone with information should call Jamestown Police at 483-7537, Town of Elliott Police at 665-7083.
Callers can also leave an anonymous tip at 483-8477.
